Free Local Showcase Open to All New Mexico Residents
The New Mexico Film Office (NMFO) announced a call for entries today for the 2016 NM Filmmakers Showcase to be held in Albuquerque at the National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) on July 8 - 9. The showcase is an annual event featuring a vast range of creative talent from around the state. There is no charge to submit an entry, and the event is open to the public and free to attend.
The NMFO will begin accepting entries on Monday May 16 and will close on Friday June 3 at 5:00 p.m. For guidelines and to submit your entry and application visit: filmfreeway.com/festival/2016NewMexicoFilmmakersShowcase.
"The best part of a healthy, vibrant film industry are the resources and opportunity it provides for locals to tell their stories. The New Mexico Filmmakers Showcase is your chance to share those stories with your community," said Nick Maniatis, Director of the New Mexico Film Office.
Belle Allen, NMFO State Outreach Coordinator said, "There's no rush quite as exciting as seeing your film on the big screen and it's an honor to host this wonderful event where so much New Mexico talent comes together under one roof."
A panel of local film professionals will judge the films in various categories, and winning films will be traveled around the state by the New Mexico Film Office in collaboration with local theatres and state film festivals.
This year there are seven categories for submission: drama, horror, sci-fi/fantasy, comedy, documentary, animation, and music videos.
Join us for opening night on Friday July 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bank of America Theater - located at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 - to meet the filmmakers as they receive awards for "Best of Film" in each category, followed by a screening of the winning films. A reception will follow.
The following day, Saturday July 9, come enjoy the cream of the crop as we spend the afternoon screening the top three films from each category in the Bank of America Theater.
